Three year-old filly Glowing Red has a long way to go to emulate the deeds of her dual Group I winning half-sister In Her Time, but she is now a winner after saluting at Newcastle on Tuesday.
A three year-old filly by Artie Schiller (USA), Glowing Red was retained to race after passing in shy of her $200,000 reserve at the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and is trained by Kris Lees, who guided her mother to success in the latter part of her career.
Glowing Red was a close second on debut at Gosford earlier this month and claimed her first victory with a strong finishing burst in the 1200m maiden.
Glowing Red is the sixth winner from eight foals to race from Hell It’s Hot, whose best offspring is star sprinter In Her Time, who won the Group I ATC The Galaxy and VRC Lightning Stakes retiring with earnings topping $3.7million.
Hell It’s Hot is a half-sister to Group III winner Hot as Hell and stakes-winners Flaming Hot and Craig’s Dragon as well as to the dam of Everest hero Yes Yes Yes.
Given her pedigree and race performance it was no surprise to see In Her Time sold for $2million at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale this year when snapped up by Newgate Bloodstock and she has been covered this spring by I Am Invincible.
Hell It’s Hot turned 18 this year and has a yearling colt by Impending and a filly foal by Pariah.
