Four juvenile heats at Rosehill on Thursday morning produced some interesting winners including two by first season sires Flying Artie and Tivaci as well as a $1.1million colt by Exceed and Excel.
Trained by Chris Waller, Exceed and Excel colt Wizard of Oz did everything right in his first public outing, jumping smartly for Nash Rawiller to go forward and sit outside the leader before forging clear to score a half length win in his 900m heat.
Wizard of Oz runs in the Coolmore navy blue for Coolmore and partners and was bought for $1.1 million at Magic Millions making him the second highest priced horse by his sire at the sale.
He is the first foal of Dream in Colour (GB), an interesting import being by Frankel from Australian Group III winner Colour, who comes from True Blonde branch of the Easy Date family that produced Golden Slipper winner Forensics.
Additional heats were won by Tivaci filly Mascherata and Flying Artie filly Ruby Kisses.
The fourth heat went to Bull Point colt Readily Availalbull, but plenty of interest in the expensive runner-up.
