Saturday Success for So You Think

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 24

Two time Cox Plate winner So You Think has emerged as one of our leading sires and he enjoyed great success at Randwick on Saturday with a new stakes-winner in Irish bred Knights Order, while his top class three year-old Peltzer claimed a big payday when taking out the $1million ATC Bondi Stakes (1600m).

A last start winner of the Group II ATC Stan Fox Stakes (1400m), the Sterling Alexiou and Gerald Ryan trained Peltzer was trying a step up in distance to the mile for this assignment, but rose to the challenge to win by nearly three lengths over Prime Star.

e’s just a good colt," Ryan said.

"It just didn’t work in the Golden Rose but there is plenty of money around in races just off the top.

"I reckon next year as a three-year-old, races like the Stradbroke are right up his alley.”

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gerald Ryan Racing/David Raphael, Peltzer was offered by renowned South Australian nursery Mill Park.

Peltzer has the overall record of five wins and a second from eight starts with prizemoney in excess of $939,000.

He is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to stakes-winner So We Are and is the first winner from Miss Otto, a half-sister by Elusive Quality (USA) to Group II placed Miss With Attitude, the dam of stakes-winner Crown Towers.

Peltzer’s grand-dam is by Flying Spur, a sire that has worked previously with So You Think to produce Group I ATC Surround Stakes (1400m) winner Nakeeta Jane.

Mill Park sold the current two year-old from Miss Otto, a colt by Street Boss (USA), at Magic Millions Adelaide this year for $75,000 to Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock and he has been entered for the Magic Millions 2YO’s in Training Sale where he will be offered as Lot 11..

Miss Otto produced another filly by So You Think last year and is back in foal to Coolmore’s champion son of High Chaparral (IRE).

So You Think added a 29th stakes-winner to his tally when the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained stayer Knights Order won the Listed Tatts Club Cup (2400m) at his second start in Australia

He led all the way and won by a long neck taking his overall record to five wins from 11 starts.

Purchased for 250,000 guineas by from the 2018 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale by McKeever Bloodstock/ Gai Waterhouse Racing, Knights Order is a half-brother to Group II winner Dark Islander from good producer Lamanka Lass, who has left nine winners from 11 foals to race.
