Racenet lays for Saturday

Breednet - Friday September 8

Some small fields make things difficult at the weekend but the Racenet analysts have put their heads together to give punters another tool to help them turn a profit with the Racenet lays of the day.

Don't risk getting burnt with our Rosehill lay.

Below are the favoured runners that the Racenet men have discounted as winning chances on Saturday.

EGG TART

$2.40

She resumes here with a big boom, part of which is due to the racing world hoping she’s another Winx - unlikely. No doubting she’s a smart horse but a $2.40 chance in this, we think not. Firstly there’s no pace in the race and she’s going to get back in the run – never ideal at Rosehill. Secondly, this is a 1300m race – her Group I form is at 2000m and beyond. Thirdly, we don’t think she’s good enough to be beating horses like Deploy and Dixie Blossom, as well as a few others, over this unsuitable trip.

Moonee Valley

HOUTZEN

$2.50

Clearly a winning chance and is favourite but there are a few reasons for risking her. One is the price, she looks too short to us, but more relevant is the new three-year-old taking on older horses, even if it is at weight-for-age. She’s drawn wide and if Heatherly steps on terms one would expect the speed to be on. Race pressure first time around Moonee Valley at this level will be intense and prepared to take her on.

MISHANI SLEUTH

$1.80

Mishani Sleuth drops 5kg from his last start but rises in class and is back in distance in a race that could set up to favour those that go forward and they can't all get the box seat run. Of course he can win, but at this price - we aren’t prepared to find out.

Morphettville

DANGER DEAL

$2.15

Still a maiden after seven starts but is clearly talented and looks the best horse in the race. If he is going to be vulnerable this preparation it will be first-up and over 1050m when he gives the impression he needs further. No doubt he’ll be winning before long but at the odds and over this distance we're happy to be finding one to beat him on Saturday.

BOMBS AWAY

$3.60

Favourite in a small field but a race with plenty of chances. Ran well last start but goes up 2.5kg in what is arguably a tougher race here and there looks plenty of speed in the race. Had two months off between races after not racing for four months and he looks plenty short enough.
