New Stakes-Winner for Nicconi

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 21
The $125,000 Listed Rosemont Stud Stakes at Geelong on Wednesday was won in a thrilling finish by lightly raced Nicconi mare Exclusive Lass, a $75,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Sheamus Mills Bloodstock from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft.

Trained by Nigel Blackiston and ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Exclusive Lass bounced back from a last start luckless unplaced run at Caulfield in Group III company to score a tenacious win.

She charged home late and kept finding to the line to score a narrow win in the 1200 metre sprint for fillies and mares.

A model of consistency, Exclusive Lass has three wins and four placings from just nine starts with prizemoney topping $100,000 and will be winning a lot more races!

Exclusive Lass as a yearling"Nice mare, very honest and tries so hard," said Nigel Blackiston.

"It was a great effort to be four and five wide facing the breeze and still win. It's so important for them to get Black Type and she's done it."

A highly successful pinhook for Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, Exclusive Lass was originally purchased for $10,000 at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by Paul Willetts before being re-sold as a yearling for $75,000.

She is one of two winners from winning Zabeel mare World Exclusive, a sister to stakes-placed Maythehorsebemagic and to the dams of stakes-winners He's Remarkable and Koala Bear.

World Exclusive has a yearling colt by Stryker that made $40,000 at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale earlier this year and has now been sent to New Zealand and is due to foal again to the promising young Three Bridges based sire.

Exclusive Lass is the fifth stakes-winner for young Widden Stud based sire Nicconi, who stands at a value fee of $11,000.
