One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 22

Choisir had three promising maiden three year-old winners on Tuesday and one of them is our pick as the ‘One to Watch’.

Prepared by Bjorn Baker, Malkovich has been a Trial Watch horse on numerous occasions and was a hot favourite to cast off maiden status in the 1100m maiden at his third start.

A close third at Randwick last month when resuming from a spell, he took plenty of improvement from that run and bolted in today running a slick 1:02.89 seconds when cruising clear to win by four and a half lengths.

Malkovich was bought by Darby Bloodstock for $240,000 at the Inglis Ready 2Race Sale last year from the draft of Woodpark Stud, who had pinhooked him from Inglis Classic for $85,000.

Malkovich was one of the star lots at last year's Inglis Ready2Race Sale clocking 10.4 seconds for his breeze.

He is a half-brother to four winners including Group III placed Seewhatshebrings and stakes-placed Wandabaa and is from the family of Group I winners Rewaaya and Sense of Occasion.

Malkovich looks a bright prospect for evergreen sire Choisir, who stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $16,500.
