The Group II VRC Danehill Stakes (1200m) is run at Flemington this weekend showcasing the best of the Victorian sprinting three year-olds and two years ago in 2018 it was Encryption, who powered home to win the early spring feature.

A Godolphin blue-blood, Encryption confirmed his class with a Group I second in the MRC Oakleigh Plate and fourth in ATC The Galaxy, with five of his final six race starts all in Group I company.

Encryption carries the very best of bloodlines being by champion sire Lonhro from of Champion 3YO Filly Guelph, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to current star Godolphin sprinter Bivouac.

His first three dams are all Group I winners and his female family is famed for producing not one, but two Golden Slipper winners in Canny Lad and Sepoy.

Given the power of his pedigree, it’s no surprise to see the quality of these first foals.

“We have 20 Encryption foals here on the farm and they have all inherited their fathers depth, strength and quality features,” said Harry McAlpine.

“We targeted to stand a good looking stallion with early 2YO credentials and Encryption was the result, so it is extremely exciting to see him passing on his features and hopefully his blue blood with it!”

Ryan Arnel of Stonehouse Thoroughbreds is also impressed with what he’s seen of the Encryption foals.

“Mine are absolute rippers, one thing I can say about the stallion is we’ve got three by him and they are all very similar,” he said.

Encryption covered 135 mares last spring and stands at a fee of $13,200 this year.
