The 2019 Inglis Classic sale-topper quietly shed maiden status at Taree on Sunday with a resounding win as a short priced favourite.
Astute trainer Kris Lees is not afraid to send talented horses to the country to break the ice and we saw a good example when talented Brazen Beau colt Midland resumed from a spell.
Narrowly beaten at his first two runs earlier this year, Midland delivered for punters this time leading all the way to win by three and a half lengths.

A $550,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Bruce Perry Bloodstock from the Murrulla Stud draft, Midland is a half-brother to stakes-winner Rock Dove and is the fifth winner from five to race from Pouter, a half-sister by Dubawi to stakes-winner Excelltastic, from the family of Group I winner Dreams Galore.
Pouter was bought by Murrulla Stud from the Godolphin draft at the 2017 Inglis Broodmare Sale for $57,000 when in foal to Brazen Beau with Midland the result of that mating.
She is now due to foal to Aquis Farm’s young sire Spieth.
