There were some very happy owner breeders after the first race at Geelong on Friday which was won in style by promising Night of Thunder (IRE) filly Norbu.
Well fancied to figure in the finish, the flashy chestnut Matt Cumani trained filly raced up on the pace and was strong to the line in taking out the 1150m maiden by a length.
Retaine
Her foal image was sent into the Breednet Foal Gallery in 2017 and as you can see she has always been an eye-catching filly!
Norbu is the tenth Australian winner from the one and only crop of Southern Hemisphere bred foals by Darley shuttler Night of Thunder.
His stats from that one small crop are impressive – 53 named foals, 20 have raced and 10 have won headed by his three stakes-winners A Beautiful Night, River Night and Cherry Tortoni.
The Group I winning son of Dubawi has proven a runaway success in the Northern Hemisphere with his first crop there producing 12 stakes-winners to date and his fee in 2020 was set at 25,000 euros.
Across both hemispheres, Night of Thunder is running at 12.8% stakes-winners to runners stamping himself as a serious sire of the future, so if you are lucky enough to have one of his Australian offspring… well done!
