Hallowed Crown Colt Shines at Newmarket

Mark Smith - Sunday August 2

Twin Hill Stud’s Hallowed Crown has a very promising colt in England in the Richard Hughes-trained Karibana.

After breaking his maiden a month back at Newbury, Karibana was the punters elect over 7-furlongs at Newmarket on Saturday and he didn’t disappoint.

The final leg of a 4-timer for William Buick, Karibana weaved a passage between runners to overpower Rodin by one and three-quarter lengths with Stoweman three and a quarter lengths back in third.

Placed in all three starts last season at two, Karibana advances his record to 2 wins, 2 seconds and 2 thirds from 7 starts.

A 52,000 guineas purchase by   Blandford Bloodstock/ R Hughes out of the Kilminfoyle House Stud draft at the 2018 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Karibana is out of the unraced Shamardal (USA) mare Queen Wasp who is a half-sister to multiple Group III winner and Group 1 placed Naheef (Marju).

Hallowed Crown shuttled to Darley’s Kildangan Stud, Ireland in 2016 and 2017.

The Group 1 winning son of Street Sense (USA) is the sire of one of Australia’s most exciting mares in Colette who completed her three-year-old season with dominant wins in the Group 1 ATC Australian Oaks and Group III ATC Adrian Knox Stakes.

Hallowed Crown looks certain to be very popular at Twin Hills Stud this season at a value fee of $11,000.
