The top bets from Paul Joice for Wednesday

Paul Joice - Wednesday September 6

The betting moves have come thick and fast at Warwick Farm on Wednesday – here are my top three bets.

Let's get the party started early this week.

ACQUME (Warwick Farm Race 5 No 5)
It’s a case of being in the right spot at the right time for Acqume. Brad Widdup’s filly has been in the money at all three career starts including a third behind classy pair Alizee and Songlike prior to a last start win at Gosford. Has a soft draw and the early pace to take up a position whereas her three main rivals – Memento, Intrinsic and Jessamin are all likely to settle midfield or worse. At the value – I’m backing Josh Parr to have Acqume in the right spot at the right time.
BET: WIN
ODDS $8.50 @Bet365

HYPERNICUS (Warwick Farm Race 6 No 8)
This is a gamble backing an eight-year-old gelding with only one win from 29 attempts on good ground. But, his victory on good going was at his most recent start and he blew rivals away over 2010m around Moruya. It’s a big rise in grade coming off a country Benchmark 60 into a city Benchmark 70 but that’s why we’re getting the juicy odds. This race profiles unusually for a staying contest. It’s a big field with an abundance of pace engaged. I’m expecting some mid-race moves and this to develop into a stern staying test. With Hypernicus carrying only 53.5kg after the claim for Brock Ryan – hopefully they’ll get home right over top of them.
BET: EACH-WAY
ODDS – $16 @ Bet365

ART OF EXCELLENCE (Warwick Farm Race 8 No 10)
This has been a massive go! Rumours of $26 opening odds have been mooted but what I do know for sure is that the money has arrived and continues to flow. Why? Art Of Excellence looks the only leader so despite a wide gate should cross comfortably. He’s won three of his past four starts, including his latest at Goulburn when cruising home by five lengths. Gets to the mile for the first time but with all of the on pace favours, I am concurring with punters and tipping he’ll prove mighty tough to gun down.
BET: WIN
ODDS $3.80 @ Luxbet
