Superstars to be Offered this Afternoon

We might be getting battered by an east coast low, but later this afternoon there will be plenty of interest in what’s happening at the Gold Coast sale ring when superstar mares Sunlight, Invincibella and Unforgotten are offered for sale.

Below is a short summary and approximate selling time:



Lot 12 - Invincibella - 2.20pm* - a $185,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for Star Thoroughbreds, Invincibella won group races in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne and was a Group One winner of the Tattersall's Tiara last June. In January at her last career start she won the $1 million Magic Millions Fillies & Mares - making history as the only horse to win a feature Magic Millions for three straight years.

Lot 80 - Sunlight - 4.14pm* - a $300,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase for connections including trainers McEvoy Mitchell Racing, Sunlight shot to prominence when winning the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in 2018, sweeping the Magic Millions Racing Women's Bonus. She trained on to win three Group Ones including the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington beating Australia's best sprinters. She was awarded Australia's Champion 3YO Filly of her generation.



Lot 92 - Unforgotten - 4.32pm* - a former stablemate of champion mare Winx, Unforgotten scored a dominant victory in the 2019 ATC Australian Oaks at Randwick for Hall of Fame trainer Chris Waller. The daughter of Fastnet Rock won two other Group Two races and hails from a wonderful black type family.

G2 Eight Carat won by Embellish Filly
A brilliant front running ride by Courtney Barnes and a never say die attitude from her mount Hitabell provided trainer Stephen Marsh with a Boxing Day double as the trio combined to claim the Gr.2 Hallmark Stud Eight Carat Classic (1600m) at Ellerslie.
Comeback Win for Redwood's Sword in Stone
An impressive come-from-behind win in the New World Otaki Handicap (1600m) on Boxing Day was the first New Zealand appearance in almost five years for Sword In Stone, a multiple Group One placegetter in Hong Kong who clearly has plenty more to offer back in his homeland.
