One to Watch – Pakenham

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 5
Ultra Racing have been making news of late with their rising star colt Addictive Nature, but it was a homebred that had Sean Buckley's black and emerald green chevrons in the winner's circle at Pakenham on Tuesday.

Nicconi colt Experimentation raced greenly when beaten a short half head on debut last month, but the Robert Smerdon trained three year-old made no mistakes this time when leading throughout to win as he pleased.

Sent out a hot favourite, Experimentation cruised home to win the 1200 metre maiden by four and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Buckley's Golden Grove Stud, Experimental is a half-brother to stakes-placed Typhoon Witness and is the third winner from Lady Larissa, a half-sister to Group I winner and sire Casino Prince as well as stakes-winners Tagus, Lord of the Land and Metallurgical.

Experimentation is the 20th Australian winner this season for Nicconi, who stands at $16,500 at Widden stud this spring.
