Alligator Blood Loss is Edinburgh Park Gain

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 24

The decision to strip Alligator Blood of his first placing in the $2million Magic Millions 3YO Guineas due to a positive drug test will have some interesting ramifications, but one person that will gain some benefit if the decision stands is Ian Smith, who bred and sold the runner-up Eleven Eleven, now afforded status as a Black Type winner.

The Greg Hickman trained Fastnet Rock gelding Eleven Eleven was a $230,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Ian Smith’s Edinburgh Park Stud and with a Black Type win on his resume has now made the produce record of his dam Smokin’ Alice (USA) look a little better.

Edinburgh Park sold the current yearling from Smokin Alice (USA), a colt by Exceed and Excel, for $1million at Magic Millions this year to Gerald Ryan/David Raphael.

Edinburgh Park also own two siblings to Smokin Alice in Nothin But a Dream (USA) (dam of G1 placed Glenfiddich) and Alice’s Smart (USA) (dam of G3 placed Miss Wonderland) , so all three mares will benefit from Eleven Eleven and his new Black Type.
