Nicks that Click – Galileo and Danehill Dancer

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 16

We’ve run a number of stories of late making mention of this nick between champion Coolmore sires Galileo and Danehill Dancer and we saw another example of it overnight when Teofilo colt Subjectivist scored his first Black Type win in the Listed Glasgow Stakes (1m3f) at Hamilton.

Placed in four of seven starts last season at two and stakes-placed, the Mark Johnston trained colt returned this year to place in two good handicap races before stepping up to win this assignment by a length and three-quarters as favourite.

by his trainer at the Tattersalls October Yearling Book 2 Sale, Subjectivist has the overall record of two wins and five placings from 10 starts.

He is a three-quarter brother to Group III winner Sir Ron Priestley, who was also second in the Group I St Leger, a race named as a likely goal for Subjectivist.

The 92nd stakes-winner for Teofilo, Subjectivist is the second winner from stakes-placed Danehill Dancer mare Reckoning, who comes from a family that has produced Group I winners such as Sholokhov, Intense Focus , Skitter Scatter and Soldier of Fortune.

With a double cross of both Danehill and Sadler’s Wells, Subjectivist has an interesting pedigree and is the 45th stakes-winner to combine the blood of Galileo and Danehill Dancer.

Teofilo no longer shuttles to Australia, however we do have two of his Group I winning sons at stud with Palentino standing at Sun Stud in Victoria and Kermadec at Darley NSW.
