Brazen Beau Filly Cashing In

Mark Smith - Thursday July 16

A lightly race two-year-old filly, with a very Australian looking pedigree, is bringing in big bucks for connections despite winning nothing more than a maiden at Beverley and a novice at Catterick in her first three starts.

A daughter of Brazen Beau out of the Exceed And Excel mare Pepper Lane, Brazen Belle led all the way under Daniel Tudhope over 6-furlongs at Catterick on Wednesday to become the first multiple winner under the Great British Bonus Scheme, which offers bonuses of up to £20,000 per eligible race for British-bred fillies and mares.

Purchased for £5,000 at the 2019 Goffs England September HIT & Yearling Sale, the David O’Leary-trained filly races for her breeder Kevin Nicholson who looks to be something a fan of the Australian-breds.

He part-owned Brazen Belle’s hard-knocking dam Pepper Lane. The stakes-placed daughter of Exceed And Excel won six and placed in right of her 31 starts. Her only other runner is the two-time winning Sepoy mare Infinite Grace.
