The Hong Kong racing season for 2019/2020 concluded last night at Happy Valley and while champion Australian sire Snitzel posted a winning double it was not enough to see him trouble Exceed and Excel, who finished as the leading sire by earnings and winners.

Flying the flag for Exceed and Excel were his star sprinters Mr Stunning and Big Party among 17 winners for the season. He stands at Darley this spring at a fee of $132,000.

Twin Hills Stud’s Smart Missile had a good result with his 11 winners taking out 18 races, while his champion sire Fastnet Rock also did well with 10 winners from 22 runners and another of his sons Hinchinbrook also figuring with seven winners highlighted by Group I winning sprinter Beat the Clock.

Of the younger sires, Newgate Farm’s Deep Field made a notable impression with five winners from 10 runners.

Hong Kong racing will resume with the 2020/21 season opener at Sha Tin on Saturday, 5 September.
