New Group I Winner for Invincible Spirit

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 10

He’s become one of the hottest sires of sires in the world, but the latest Group I winner for Invincible Spirit is progressive four year-old mare Nazeef, who landed the Group I Falmouth Stakes (1m) at Newmarket in the UK overnight.

A homebred for Shadwell prepared by John Gosden, Nazeef was third on debut at Newmarket in June last year and has won every start she’s had since then including three in a row this year culminating in her first victory at the elite level.

She tracked the leaders and was strong to the line winning by a neck to take her overall record to six wins from seven starts.

“Nazeef is very gutsy and has had three quick runs on the bounce. She's always had ability and class and she just thrives on her racing,” said assistant trainer Thady Gosden,

Nazeef is the first winner from stakes-winning Dubawi mare Handassa, a half-sister to Group winners Desert Stone and Euginio from the family of Group I winning sprinters Pastoral Pursuits and Goodricke.

She is the 19th Group I winner for Invincible Spirit, who has no fewer then seven sires sons listed for service here in Australia this spring headed by his champion Australian bred son I Am Invincible, the most expensive sire in the country.
