Greg Polson previews Beaumont Newcastle Tuesday September 5

Greg Polson - Tuesday September 5

A horse whose unlucky defeat at Muswellbrook last time out created plenty of interest in the Racenet comments gets the chance to make amends on the Beaumont circuit at Newcastle on Tuesday.

Clinton Payne described it as a "horror show for punters" in his Racenet article on August 23 – read the full story and have a look at the replay here and form your own opinion.

It was a horror show of epic proportions without a doubt and punters who backed the four-year-old from $1.40 into $1.28 on the back of an impressive eight-length win on debut at Scone will have had recurring nightmares every time their head touched a pillow since.

Floki overcame a wide run in transit to win at Scone and did the job in a manner which suggested the son of Hinchinbrook had the potential to be a metropolitan winner but was luckless at Muswellbrook when on paper he looked the best of good things.

Barrier one and arguably being ridden "too pretty" was extremely costly for connections and punters.

Floki has had a change of rider with Blake Shinn the new jockey and Floki shouldn't find himself on the fence behind the leader after drawing barrier 10 in a field of eleven at acceptance time.

Many punters would have sought medical advice or therapy after having to endure what happened to Floki in the straight at Muswellbrook but hardened punters know medicine and therapy are little help – a win is the only remedy to get us back on the straight and narrow and hopefully that happens at Beaumont on Tuesday.
