Zoustar Pinhook Winner, a Racetrack Winner

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 24

Good looking Zoustar colt Oregon broke through for his first win at Canterbury on Wednesday, the two year-old now looking towards the paddock with stakes goals in mind next season.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Oregon was third and fourth at his first two runs so had a fitness edge going into this 1250 metre maiden and led all the way to win comfortably by a length and a quarter.

“He’s a nice colt but still very immature and time will be his best friend,” said Paul Snowden.

“He will go for a break now and we’ll look towards a light spring and good autumn carnival.”

Oregon runs for Newgate Farm, China Horse Club and partners and is the third winner from Canyonville (NZ), a half-sister by Black Minnaloushe (USA) to stakes-winner Joan’s Best and to the dam of Group I winner Markus Maximus.

Oregon looks a bright prospect for Zoustar, who has had a great season with over 90 winners of more than $10million in prizemoney highlighted by six stakes-winners.

The champion son of Northern Meteor stands at Widden Stud this spring at a fee of $121,000.
