Blueblood Colt Wins Chesham Stakes

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 18

The first foal of champion mare Found, two year-old War Front colt Battleground claimed his first Black Type win when taking out the Listed Chesham Stakes (7f) at Royal Ascot overnight.

Trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, Battlegournd improved on his debut fifth at Naas 10 days ago to score by more than two lengths giving his famous mum a perfect start to her stud career.

A homebred for Coolmore he is the first winner for Galileo’s superstar daughter Found, a Champion 2YO Filly that trained on to win the Group I Arc de Triomphe and Breeders Cup Turf as an older mare.

Battleground is the 91st stakes-winner for War Front and is the ninth bred from a daughter of Galileo, the nick running at nearly 17% stakes-winners to runners and  producing Group I winners US Navy Flag, Roly Poly and Fog of War.
