G1 Winner in Foal to The Autumn Sun Offered on Gavelhouse Plus

Media Release - Tuesday June 16

Australian-based Group One winning mare Rollout The Carpet (Holy Roman Emperor) will be auctioned as part of a high-profile dispersal sale later this month on Gavelhouse Plus.

The winner of the Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas (1600m), Rollout The Carpet is in foal to five-time Group One winning son of Redoute’s Choice, The Autumn Sun.

Rollout The Carpet’s weanling colt by Pierro and her two winning half-sisters Vendella (Exceed and Excel) and Out Of Friendship (Tale Of The Cat) are also included in the auction and are in foal to young, outstanding proven sires Pierro and No Nay Never respectively.

The highest-rated juvenile filly of her generation, Rollout The Carpet won the Gr.2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) and was then first past the post in in the Gr.1 Diamond Stakes (1200m) before being relegated to second.

Runner-up in both the Gr.3 Gold Trail Stakes (1200m) and Gr.3 James & Annie Sarten Memorial Stakes (1400m), Rollout The Carpet defeated high-class fillies Waterford and Fix when usurping the Guineas and was the highest rated three-year-old filly on the free handicap. She was also a Group One performer as a four-year-old, finishing a very close up third in the Gr.1 ARC Easter Handicap.

From an internationally acclaimed family, Rollout The Carpet is a daughter of American mare Out Of Egypt, a sister to Grade Two winner Wandering Star, who in turn is the dam of Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes (1400m) winner War Command.

Rollout The Carpet is part-owned by New Zealand’s Bloodstock’s International Bloodstock Manager John Cameron.

“She’s a well-bred, highly performed quality mare,” Cameron said.

“My partners Mr Fan, Mr Tung, the Orams and myself were very fortunate to have bred her and we enjoyed every moment of her racing career.

“Obviously the highlight being her very determined win in the Gr.1 NZ 1000 Guineas which gave us a tremendous thrill as owners and we were extremely proud of her.

“It is with a certain sadness, that due to a change of circumstance and direction that we have made the difficult decision to sell our partnership horses.

“With our horses being domiciled in Australia, it does however create a wonderful opportunity for breeders to purchase a Group One winner in Rollout The Carpet and her two well-bred winning half-sisters.

“They are all in foal to exciting young sires and the new buyers will be able to mate them to the stallion of their choice this spring.

“Rollout The Carpet’s weanling colt by the outstanding young sire Pierro gives buyers the opportunity to purchase him with a view of on-selling him as a yearling or alternatively buying him as a potential racehorse to race in their own colours.”

Having played host to New Zealand Bloodstock’s online South Island Sale and with NZB’s National Weanling Sale online at present, this will be the first stand-alone Gavelhouse Plus auction.

“We are very fortunate to have been entrusted with such well-credentialed stock to kick off our Gavelhouse Plus auctions,” general manager Haylie Martin said.

“They would be welcome additions to any bloodstock portfolio and we look forward to presenting them for sale.”
