China Horse Club's Frankel Filly Wins on Debut

Kevin Manning rode the wonderful Alexander Goldrun (IRE) in all 31 starts around the globe so it was fitting he should be in the saddle when Alexander Goldrun's 3-year-old Frankel filly Goldrush carried the China Horse Club colours to victory China Horse in a 17-runner maiden at h is career debut at Na van.

"It's always nice to win with a filly as well-bred as she is. She has been working well but we've had a few little hiccups along the way," winning trainer Jim Bolger told Irish Racing.com.

"She was a bit weak last year so we didn't run her, and a few times we had her ready to run this year and she had small little problems, nothing serious.

"She was declared to run a few times and she got rained off one day. She doesn't want soft ground but she handled that well today so she might handle a little ease in it.

"Hopefully she will go on now and be a Stakes filly."

For such a well-traveled mare Alexander Goldrun (IRE) did not venture far from home at her first 11 starts.

She had won a Listed race at the Curragh and a Group III at Leopardstown before her first trip abroad when fourth in the Group I French Oaks at Chantilly.

Later that season she won her first Group I in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp and was on the plane for Hong Kong where she won the Group I Hong Kong Gold Cup.

She made her 4-year-old bow in Dubai finishing sixth behind our own champ Elvstroem in the Group I Dubai Duty Free then was off to Singapore for the Group I where she found the much-loved Aussie Mummify at the top of his game in the Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji.

Back home Alexander Goldrun (IRE) won the Group I Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

At her first trip to England the daughter of Gold Away finished second in the Group I Falmouth Stakes before winning the Group I Falmouth Stakes at Goodwood.

Following that win, she tackled Group I races in Ireland, France, England, Hong Kong and Dubai without ringing up number one.

She won a second Group I Pretty Polly Stakes, which proved to be her final win.

After placings in the Nassau Stakes behind Ouija Board, the Irish Champion Stakes won by Dylan Thomas and the Sun Chariot Stakes, Alexander Goldrun (IRE) made her third trip to Sha Tin for the Hong Kong Cup where she finished fifth to bring the curtain down on her brilliant career.

Goldrush was purchased by China Horse Club for €1.7 million at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale in September 2015.

She is the third foal and first winner out of Alexander Goldrun.

Her first foal Juniper Tree (Galileo), was a 950,000gns yearling and placed in two of his three starts before going to stud in Denmark.

Her second foal Pietrangelo, also by Galileo, a 400,000gns yearling, was unraced.

Alexander Goldrun has a Shamardal two-year-old filly, named Une Alliance, that made €600,000 at Goffs last year and was exported to Japan.

Alexander Goldrun has a colt foal by Muhaarar and was covered by Kodiac this year.
