Brazen Beau Colt Stakes Royal Ascot Claim

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 4

Scoring his first Black Type win overnight was Brazen Beau colt Dubai Station, who scored a bold victory in the Group III Pavilion Stakes (6f) at Newcastle on the all weather track.

Two of the last five winners of the Pavilion Stakes, which is usually run at Ascot, have gone on to Group I success and Dubai Station will be given that opportunity in the Group I Commonwealth Cup (6f) at Royal Ascot.

"I'm really, really happy with that," said winning trainer Karl Burke. "He's a very good horse, he's showing that on the gallops at home. He does a lot of his work with Lord Of the Lodge and he's probably got a better turn of foot than him.

"We knew we had a horse but he had a few niggles last year and we had to iron them out through the winter, we had a bit of a clean up in a couple of joints.

"He'll go for the Commonwealth Cup and he'll go there with a chance, although he wouldn't want the ground too soft, that was plenty slow enough for him there, so we'll hope for good, fast ground at Ascot."

Dubai Station was third in the Group II Royal Ascot Norfolk Stakes last year and has the overall record of two wins and three placings from seven starts.

Purchased for just 30,000 guineas at Tattersalls October Book 2 by Ahmad Al Shaikh, Dubai Station is the first winner for Princess Guest, a half-sister by Iffraaj to stakes-winner Imperial Guest.

Brazen Beau

He is the eighth stakes-winner for Brazen Beau, who stands at Darley Victoria at a fee of $49,500.
