Carlton House
Carlton House then travelled to Australia to be trained by Gai Waterhouse at Randwick.
At Sydney's Autumn carnival earlier this year, Carlton House was quick to demonstrate the depth of his talents when contesting the G1 Ranvet Stakes over 2000m against Australasia's best weight-for-age horses.
Dashing clear with a superb turn of foot once entering the straight, Carlton House was agonisingly denied victory in the final stride by Champion Silent Achiever but once again had multiple G1 winners behind him in the form of Dundeel, Hawkspur, Fiorente, Foreteller and Gondokoro.
Carlton House finished third at his final start - fittingly in the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick. He retires with earnings close to $1.3million and 11 of his 15 starts were at G1 or G2 level. He defeated no less than 26 G1 winners during his career.
Bred by Darley, Carlton House is one of five winners out of the G2-winning Bustino mare Talented. His sire Street Cry has enjoyed tremendous success in the southern hemisphere, siring multiple G1 winner Whobegotyou, last year's G1 Caulfield Guineas winner Long John and Melbourne Cup winner Shocking.
Her Majesty The Queen's Bloodstock and Racing Advisor, John Warren said, "Carlton House is such a magnificent and correct individual. He is by one of the most important stallions in the world. Carlton House proved he was high class from the moment he won his two-year-old maiden at Newbury by nine lengths and he was rated up there with the very best."
Alastair Pulford, Darley's Head of Sales in Australia said, "We are delighted to stand a son of our world-renowned stallion Street Cry on our Kelvinside roster. Carlton House possessed the precocity to be a tearaway winner at two but had that famous Street Cry durability which saw him mixing it with the best at six. His pedigree is top class and he is a complete outcross for Danehill, Danzig and other Northern Dancer line stallions. We look forward to showing him to breeders in the coming months."
Carlton House will stand at Kelvinside at a fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
