Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 15

The Randwick trials on Friday morning included six heats for juveniles with some interesting winners, but none more so than the first and only foal of an ill-fated Group I winner.

May’s Dream won the 2014 Group SAJC Australasian Oaks and when offered in foal to Not a Single Doubt in her first season at stud at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale fetched $720,000.

She sadly produced just the one foal, a colt from that mating called Jimmy’s Dream, who had his first public outing this morning.

Jimmy's Dream as a yearlingBred by Newhaven Park and retained after passing in shy of his $150,000 reserve at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Jimmy’s Dream runs for a syndicate headed by Newhaven Park in whose colours he runs and is trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

Ridden quietly by Tim Clark, Jimmy’s Dream was always travelling well in the field and when angled into the clear did his best work in the last furlong to round up the leaders and win his 742 metre heat by nearly a length running away.

Jimmy’s Dream has a real mix of speed and stamina in his pedigree with his Oaks winning dam May’s Dream being by Epsom Derby winner New Approach (IRE) from another Oaks winner in She’s Archie, who was also second in a Melbourne Cup.
