Stallion He's Remarkable in Next Gavelhouse Online Sale

Media Release - Wednesday May 6

The current 125 Lot gavelhouse.com auction is brimming with opportunities for breeders featuring 53 broodmares plus Mapperley Stud’s Group One performing son of Pentire, He’s Remarkable.

He's RemarkableAs farms gear up for another breeding season, Mapperley Stud have made a strategic decision to give another farm the opportunity to stand the impressive individual with him for sale on an unreserved basis.

"Due to the competitive nature of the stallion market in the Waikato, we feel he would be better suited to carry on his stud duties in a different part of the country, or perhaps even a different country for that matter," Mapperley principal, Simms Davidson commented.

"He's Remarkable is a beautiful looking stallion, he's got a wonderful pedigree behind him and he leaves a great type.

“There is still international demand for his progeny, and with Age of Chivalry targeting Group One races in the Spring, he still has plenty to offer as a sire going forward.”

He is currently represented by three crops of runners and there looks to be plenty more to come for the young sire with the Ellerton Zahra trained Age of Chivalry his headliner. The four-year-old has amassed A$400,000 having knocked on the door of victory at the highest echelon as runner-up in the Gr.1 Sir Rupert Clarke and third in the Gr.1 Toorak this season.

A son of the late Pentire, sire of 16 individual Group One winners, He’s Remarkable is a full brother to Gr.1 NZ 2000 Guineas hero Xtravagant who competed against the toughest horses of his generation. His race record includes a runner-up finish in the Gr.1 NZ 2000 Guineas behind subsequent NZ Horse of the Year and Champion 3YO, Jimmy Choux.

A sound and tough competitor, he then raced on as a four-year-old to win the Gr.3 Newmarket Handicap before his infamous Gr.1 Railway Stakes debacle in Western Australia where he finished first past the post before being relegated to second.

Bidding in the auction will close, starting with Lot 1, from 5pm (NZ time) on Monday 11 May. Register online at gavelhouse.co.nz to bid.
