Aquis Announce 2020 Fees

Media Release - Monday May 4

The Fung family are delighted to announce that outstanding Gr.1-winning sprint sensation PIERATA will headline the Aquis stallion roster in 2020.

The best son of Champion sire Pierro, Pierata defeated 39 individual Group 1 winners of 79 Group 1 races including the likes of Trapeze Artist, Bivouac, Brutal, Exceedance, Nature Strip, Santa Ana Lane and Redzel, during a stellar race career.

The fee for Pierata has been set at $44,000Renowned for his toughness and tenacity as much as his class, Pierata’s career, in which he accumulated in excess of $5.8m in earnings, was punctuated by a series of outstanding performances.

In Randwick’s time-honoured Gr.1 All Aged Stakes, he was too sharp for the likes of Osborne Bulls, Fierce Impact, Champagne Cuddles, Le Romain and Manuel.

In the Gr.2 Shorts over 1100m, he was too quick for the likes of Redzel and Classique Legend, while in the Gr.3 Sydney Stakes over 1200m, he ran a quicker time that what it took Redzel to win The Everest on the same card.

All told, Pierata won or placed in 5 Group 1 races from 1100m to 1600m and holds the distinction of being the only offspring of Pierro to win a Group 1 at less than a mile.

Pierata will stand at Aquis Hunter Valley, NSW at a fee of $44,000 (including GST).

“Pierata has all the attributes that any commercial breeder desires,” commented Aquis’ CEO Tony (Tubba) Williams.

“Physically he emulates his sire and sire line with distinction, strength, balance, scope, speed and importantly temperament. He developed a following from the racing public and the industry with his tenacious racing style, enabling him to perform at the highest level in every season that he raced.”

Also set to stand his debut season at Aquis in 2020 is Not A Single Doubt’s highly talented Breeders’ Plate winning son DUBIOUS.

Dubious will stand at Aquis Queensland at a fee of $13,200The fastest ever winner of the sire-making Gr.3 Breeders’ Plate (1000m), Dubious’ time of 56.45 eclipsed those clocked by the likes of past winners Capitalist, Vancouver, Pierro, Sebring, Snitzel and Choisir.

By the same sire as Aquis’ sensational Gr.1 Golden Slipper and Champion 2YO elect Farnan, Dubious’ mental toughness and sensational juvenile ability saw the colt finish second in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic of his year, emulating the effort of his outstanding sire in the same race.

He also captured the Gr.2 Champagne Classic (1200m) at Doomben, a race won in the past by the exciting young sire Brazen Beau, before finishing his 2YO campaign with a gutsy fifth, beaten a length and a half by triple Gr.1 winner The Bostonian in the Gr.1 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at weight-for-age.

Dubious hails from the extended family of Champion Sires Street Cry and Shamardal, who between them have sired just shy of 50 Group 1 winners.

“Dubious is the perfect addition for our Queensland roster, a brilliant 2YO and well-travelled 3YO, he displays absolute strength and speed indicative of his sire Not A Single Doubt, who has developed into one of the hottest sires in Australia.”

“Dubious displayed toughness and speed which cannot be denied. He has all the qualities that breeders seek, natural muscle, good bone, presence and a good temperament.”

Dubious will stand at Aquis Canungra, QLD at a fee of $13,200 (including GST)
