90 Strong Chairman's Sale Finalized

Media Release - Monday April 27

A 90-strong catalogue for the 2020 edition of the Chairman’s Sale has been finalised with G1 winners Volpe Veloce (Foxwedge) and Go Indy Go (Bernardini) headlining a flurry of star power added to the sale.

The pair join the likes of Miss Barley (dam of G1-winning sprinter Gytrash), Happy Hannah (G1 performer in foal to Zoustar) and beautifully bred filly Invictus Salute as final wildcard entries in what is a truly spectacular catalogue of world-class race fillies and broodmares.

Group I winner Volpe VeloceVolpe Veloce is one of the best sprinting mares to come out of New Zealand in the past decade.

She asserted herself as a star of the track from the outset of her career, winning her first seven starts including four at Stakes level.

She progressed into a G1 superstar when winning NZ’s biggest sprint – the Railway Stakes – in dominant fashion in 2018, defeating the likes of 10-time G1 winning star Melody Belle.

Go Indy Go was a star 2YO of her crop which included the likes of Mossfun, Earthquake, Unencumbered, Peggy Jean and Time For War.

She won the G1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick during the autumn carnival at just her fourth career start during a career that spanned 11 starts - all at Stakes level – and resulted in two wins and four minor placings.

Her two foals to be offered at public auction to date have sold for $1,500,000 and $700,000.

The finalised catalogue of 90 select lots includes 41 Stakes winners or producers, amongst whom are 10 G1 winners or producers.

The final entries have created a stunning Chairman’s Sale catalogue which also includes the likes of G1 winners In Her Time, Unforgotten and Booker, Cleanup - the dam of recent G1 Doncaster Mile winner Nettoyer – in foal to The Autumn Sun, G2 winner and G1-placed mare Noire, Admirable – dam of dual G1 winner Vega Magic – in foal to Exceed And Excel, G2-winning Hinchinbrook mare Samara Dancer (in foal to freshman sire Trapeze Artist) and dual Stakes winners such as Sprightly Lass (in foal to Pierro), Sword Of Light (in foal to Fastnet Rock), Lubiton (in foal to I Am Invincible) and Meryl.

Other highlight Wildcard entries include G1 winner Youngstar and five-time G1-placed Fundamentalist.

The catalogue also includes rare offerings in foal to star international stallions like Lope De Vega, Kingman, Frankel and Medaglia d’Oro.

“This really is one of the best catalogues of race fillies and broodmares ever assembled for a breeding stock sale in the southern hemisphere,’’ Inglis’ NSW Bloodstock Manager Chris Russell said.

“There are rare gems in the catalogue that simply do not reach the open market very often.

“We have been tremendously well supported by our vendors and have been able to create a spectacular buying opportunity for those looking to begin or expand their broodmare band.’’

The Chairman’s Sale will take the format of a Virtual Auction with online and telephone bidding, just as the Easter Yearling Sale did, on Friday May 8 online at inglis.com.au.

All prospective buyers must be pre-registered and have credit approved prior to the sale.
