Beauty's Beast Sold to Australia

Media Release - Wednesday May 21
A Sydney autumn carnival black type winner who is rated a serious Group One contender has been sold to Australian interests.

Beauty's BeastBeauty's Beast was prepared at Te Rapa by David Greene for his breeders Windsor Park Stud and following his impressive form at home he added the Listed South Pacific Classic at Randwick in April to his record.

"He's been sold to clients of Danny O'Brien's stable," Greene said. "It's disappointing to lose a horse of his quality, but unfortunately that's the nature of the game we're in.

"He's clearly the best horse I have trained and he's still got plenty of upside to him. There's no reason at all why there's not a Group One somewhere with his name on it."

Beauty's Beast led all the way to win at his Australian debut and in the process he earned high praise from rider Hugh Bowman.

"He has got a lot of presence about him, he is a big strong horse, I was impressed with him," he said.

A son of Guillotine, Beauty's Beast was placed in his only juvenile appearance and then won at Ruakaka last winter before he was spelled following two under pars runs in the early spring.

He returned to his best with a first-up win at Ellerslie in February and further success followed with victories over the recent Queensland winner Sancerre at Tauranga and at Te Aroha, where he beat the Group Three placegetter Miss Foxwood.

"He only had the nine starts and the last preparation he had five starts and he nearly won them all. He just kept getting better with each one and there's still plenty left in the tank," Greene said.– NZ Racing Desk.
