Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday April 21

There were six heats for juveniles run at Randwick on Tuesday morning and three of those were won by the progeny of champion two year-old sire I Am Invincible.

The Peter and Paul Snowden trained I Am Invincible filly Sancy looked good winning on debut at Rosehill back in December and then was unplaced on slow ground when she drew off the track in the Group III ATC Magic Night Stakes.

Back on good footing here, she was a class above, scooting clear to win her 1045 metre heat by three lengths.

A homebred for Canning Downs, Sancy is the only living foal of Group III winning Street Boss (USA) mare Thiamandi who died in 2018.

Sancy looks like a Black Type filly in the making, although connections will be hoping the rain stays away.

Alura as a yearlingAlso looking the goods was the John O’Shea trained I Am Invincible filly Alura, who made it two trial wins from her only two outings to date.

Eased back to last at the start after jumping from the outside, she surged home along the fence for James McDonald to score by the best part of a length.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Murrulla Stud draft for Champion Thoroughbreds, Alura is the second living foal of Commands mare Dwindle a half-sister to Group II winner Tarquin from the family of European Horse of the Year Fantastic Light and Australian Group I winner Your Song.

John O’Shea bought the current yearling from Dwindle, a colt by Written Tycoon, at Inglis Classic this year for $150,000, which is probably a good indication that Alura has pleased the stable in what she has done to date.
