Trilogy Celebrate Stakes Success with 2YO Zoustar Filly

Tara Madgwick - Saturday May 20

The $160,000 Listed BRC Bill Carter Stakes (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday produced a great result for Trilogy Racing with their exciting Zoustar filly Zia taking the prize over Abounding with third placed Certainlycan to be offered for sale at MM next week.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Zia made a winning debut at Canterbury on May 3 and made a smooth transition to stakes company with a tenacious effort for Tim Clark to win by a neck.

“She is the ultimate professional as we saw today and is very tough,” said Adrian Bott.

“From a wide draw today it was a bit concerning, but she’s been able to overcome that with the natural speed that she’s got and Tim Clark was able to get her into a nice position.”

Zia has won over $128,000 from her first two starts and is likely to remain in training for another Black Type run in Queensland.

A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Glenlogan Park draft for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds/Trilogy Racing, Zia was bred by Glenlogan Park and is the best of two winners from Group III placed Soviet Secret, who died in 2021.

She is the 36th stakes-winner for Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar.

Footnote: Super interesting out of the race was the terrific debut run of Written Tycoon filly Certainlycan to finish third on debut. She will be offered by Baystone Farm as Lot 683 and looks to have a very bright future ahead of her.
