Daughters of Frankel and Deep Impact Duke it Out at Sandown

Mark Smith - Wednesday March 30

There was a distinct international flavour to a 1600m midweeker for fillies and mares at Sandown. My Whisper, Yulong’s promising 3yo Frankel filly, made it three on the bounce when holding off a determined challenge by 3YO Deep Impact filly Glint Of Hope (JPN).

With Jamie Kah in the saddle for Peter and Paul Snowden, My Whisper repelled the challenge of the consistent Glint Of Hope (JPN) by a half-neck.

It was four and three-quarter lengths back to Arctic Stone (Nicconi) in third.

After debuting with a seventh at Geelong last September, My Whisper has reeled off three wins at Kilmore and Sandown (twice).

"She is very talented without a doubt this filly," Kah told Racing.com

."She probably just needed a guide going into the straight, it's a long straight and when she hit the front she wasn't stopping but she just needed a bit of company.

"When that horse (Glint Of Hope) came to me, she fought again and was very tough. She's still very green even though she's had a few starts, next prep she will be an even better horse.

"But she's handling the racing so well at the moment that I think they'll push on and possibly target stakes races with her. I think when the class steps up, she'll step up as well."

My Whisper was among five lots by Frankel that Yulong withdrew from the COVID hit 2020 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale. Four were reoffered at round two, with three passed in, including My Whisper, who fell short of her $300,000 reserve.

My Whisper failed to make her $300,000 reserve at Easter

My Whisper is the first foal of the Poet’s Voice mare Hersigh (GB), a Godolphin homebred who won races on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Lingfield in an eight start career.

A half-sister to Listed stakes-winner Ennaadd (King’s Best), Hersigh (GB) is out of the stakes-winning Singspiel mare Zayn Zed whose dam Roshani is a three-quarter sister to the champion Oh So Sharp.

Consigned to the 2017 Tattersalls August Sale, Hersigh was purchased by BBA Ireland for.£52,000.

Hersigh (GB) has a 2yo filly by Snitzel and a yearling filly by Grunt.

After missing to Grunt in 2020, Hersigh (GB) visited Lucky Vega (IRE) last spring.
