600,000 St Marks Basilica Filly a Highlight Tattersalls October Book 2 Opener

The sustained demand witnessed at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale continued on the opening day of Book 2 with thirteen lots realising 300,000 guineas or more and a top price of 875,000 guineas. The average and turnover were both up on last year’s opening session and the clearance rate was an impressive 90%.

With his first Aussie bred yearlings to be offered in 2025, St Mark’s Basilica has been super popular at European yearling sales this year and demand for progeny of the champion son of Siyouni continued at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 this week where he was the leading first season sire by average.

2021 European Horse of the Year St Mark’s Basilica has had strong sale results this year in Europe and they continued at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale where he had 15 yearlings sell for €1,698,000 with his top seller a regally bred filly that sold for €460,000 and is a half-sister to Melbourne Cup entry Jan Brueghel.

Currently back in Australia at Coolmore preparing for his third Southern Hemisphere season at stud, 2021 European Horse of the Year St Mark’s Basilica made a splash during the second session of the Arqana Deauville August Yearling Sale when Al Shaqab Racing bought one of his fillies for €550,000.
