Vic/NSW Racing Suspended Pending Coronavirus Test
Breednet - Wednesday March 25

Racing in Victoria has been closed down for the next two days and Hawkesbury in NSW on Thursday has been abandoned while a Victorian participant undergoes a Coronavirus test.

The last six races at Sandown on Wednesday along with Thursdays meetings at Pakenham and Kilmore however they are hopeful of resuming racing on Friday.

The participant was on the same flight as a confirmed case of the virus on March 12 but is not showing any symptoms.

“This was 13 days ago that this potential exposure happened and I would just point out the participant is not displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 at the moment,” said Racing Victoria Chief Executive Giles Thompson.

“If the participant tests negative, then we’ll look to resume racing as soon as we can,” Thompson said.

The last two races at Warwick Farm were also cancelled as the participant had been at Rosehill on March 21.

Thursday's NSW Narromine meeting will go ahead and Racing NSW is hoping to get racing back to "normmal" on Friday pending the test result.
