Tony Williams Joins Aquis

Media Release - Wednesday October 9

With the acquisition of Pierata and our ever-growing stallion numbers, the decision has been made by the Board of Directors to separate our stud farm operations across three states from our Australian and international racing businesses.

Tony Williams To this end, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Tony Williams to the role of CEO Aquis Stud Farm. Williams is recognised for his expertise, his ability to lead and outstanding personable nature.

Ensuring that Aquis continues to grow both locally and internationally, there was no better candidate for the position. Tony's appointment highlights Aquis' absolute commitment to the Australian breeding market and its unwavering determination to become a high-level market participant.

With over 40 years of extensive industry experience, Tony was appointed to the role of Goffs UK Managing Director in late 2016, having previously spent time working with Magic Millions and Newgate Farm in Australia, while also acting as an agent for the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

"I'm extremely honoured to be joining the Aquis Farm team. Their foresight and ingenuity at becoming a market leader is second to none, and I can't wait to ensure the vision of the Fung family comes to fruition," stated Williams.

"Having been in the UK for the past few years, I'd like to thank Goffs for the opportunities presented to me, while I am looking forward to heading back to Australia and being located in Queensland."

Shane McGrath will move to Managing Director of Aquis Farm, with a renewed focus on our racing operation domestically and on an ever-increasing basis internationally.

"It's a very exciting time for Aquis - having recently acquired the hottest stallion prospect in the country, and with Tony Williams joining the team, whose international standing is second to none, Aquis' position within the global breeding and racing industries has once again strengthened further," stated McGrath.

Williams will commence his role effective from 1 January 2020, ahead of the commencement of the Magic Millions sale on the Gold Coast where Aquis will consign a draft of yearlings.
