A 'Boutique' Venture for Leading Queensland Breeders With a Southern Twist

Media Release - Friday May 10

A new bloodstock venture has hit the ground running as the top Queensland broodmare buyer at last week's Inglis Chairman's Sale and securing a leading stud as a partner.

Boutique Thoroughbreds, bringing together Queensland breeders Andrew Dunemann, Craig Wallace, Melinda Richards and Mary-Lee Trivett along with a number of Qld's leading racehorse owners, acquired three mares totaling $1.15 million at the Inglis Chairman's Sale and a further mare at the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.

Today Boutique Thoroughbreds entered a partnership with Three Bridges Thoroughbreds as the agistment provider for its mares.

Managing Director Andrew Dunemann said Boutique Bloodstock was formed with a vision of breeding quality stock to sell at both Magic Millions and Inglis yearling sales.

"Our aim is to enhance the competitive advantage of a number of smaller but high performing Queensland breeders to enable the strategic acquisition of high-quality stock," said Dunemann.

"The sales this year have rammed home the fact that buyers are after quality types with quality pedigrees. Buyers are being very selective in the bottom end of the market.

Dual G1 winner Eskimo Queen was one of three mares bought for this venture"This is an exciting time for us and lays a strong foundation for focusing on the top end of the market in future sales."

In conjunction with the services of respected bloodstock agent Paul Willetts, Boutique Thoroughbreds purchased the following broodmares at the Chairman's sale:

  • Alteza Real, the dam of Group 3 winning sprinter Alfolk and Hong Kong winner Timely Arrived. A daughter of Exceed and Excel she is in foal to outstanding sire I Am Invincible.
  • Brilliantly fast and seven times Stakes winner, Avenue, who has an exciting mating to up-and- coming sire Dundeel.
  • Dual Group 1 winner Eskimo Queen, a proven producer and dam of the dual Group 1 placed/Group 3 winning sprinter/miler Dreamforce who is in foal to champion Australian sire Snitzel.

The Boutique Thoroughbreds team consists of:

Andrew Dunemann - Managing Director of Boutique Thoroughbreds, Principal of BRT Bloodstock. Andrew has a professional sporting and racing background of 25 years. His widespread involvement in the thoroughbred industry includes racehorse ownership, syndication, ready to race and breeding.
