Million Dollar Not A Single Doubt Colt Strikes in Ken Russell Classic

Mark Smith - Saturday May 4

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Stronger had been beaten twice previously by the one-time Golden Slipper favourite Accession but the million dollar son of Not A Single Doubt had his revenge in Saturday's Group III Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast.

Both Sydneysiders came from well back on the heavy track to single out in a thrilling duel.

Under hard riding by Blake Shinn, Stronger edged out Accession (Brazen Beau) by a short half-head with the filly Take Tea (Testa Rossa) three and a half lengths away in third.

Paul Snowden was non-committal about starting Stronger in the Group II BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on May 25.

"I'm not too hellbent on thinking he can handle a strong seven (furlongs) at this stage so we'll take him home and assess," Snowden told AAP.

"It's still a few weeks away and we'll see where we're at with him.

He's a little gem and that's how he's been from day one.

"He just wants to please you. He's no fuss and what you see is what you get."

A distant third behind runaway winner Cosmic Force in the Group III Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill on March 16, Stronger earned a trip to Queensland off a fourth behind Bivouac Libertini and Athiri in the Group III Kindergarten Stakes at Randwick on April 6.

Consigned by Arrowfield Stud to the 2018 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Stronger (pictured as a yearling) was purchased by James Harron Bloodstock for $1,050,000.

He was the most expensive yearling by Not A Single Doubt that year.

A half-brother to the stakes-placed Tiger Silk (All American), Stronger is the second foal of the winning Starcraft mare Star Pupil who is a sister to the dual Listed winner Ain'tnofallenstar and a half-sister to Group III winner Bachman (All American) and the Singapore Horse Of The Year Stepitup (Hussonet).

A daughter of the three-time Listed winner and the Group 1 Underwood Stakes winner Ain't Seen Nothin' (Nothin' Leica Dane), Star Pupil has a full-brother to Stronger catalogued for the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale. (Lot 2303)

Star Pupil has missed in her last two seasons.

Stronger becomes the 65th stakes-winner for Not A Single Doubt (image Mark Smith ) who will cover at Arrowfield Stud in 2019 at a fee of $110,000.
