Ones to Watch – Warwick Farm
Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 14
Two well bred debut winning three year-olds at Warwick Farm on Wednesday appeal as horses to follow, the former a half-brother to a Group I winner and the latter bred on a cross that has already produced two Group I winners.

Green Aeon as a yearlingWinning the first race on the card was the Bjorn Baker trained Snitzel gelding Green Aeon, who had shown good ability in recent trials and had no difficulty beating the favourite by a couple of lengths after leading all the way in the 1200 metre maiden.

A $300,000 Magic Millions purchase for Magus Equine from the Sun Stud draft, Green Aeon was bred by Sledmere Stud and is a half-brother to Group I VRC Myer Classic winner Politeness. He is the fifth winner from Berengaria, a half-sister to Group II winner Thackeray and stakes-winner Fairytales, the dam of Group II winner Parables.

Berengaria is now with Sun Stud and produced a Snitzel filly for them last spring before visiting their young Snitzel stallion Thronum.

No less impressive was the Joe Pride trained So You Think filly Fasika, who strode clear to win her 1200 metre maiden by two lengths despite being easy in the market. A big scope filly, she settled just off the pace and let down with an impressive turn of foot to cruise clear and win with ears pricked.

Fasika as a yearlingA modest $120,000 Inglis Easter Session II purchase for Tricolours Racing and Syndications from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft, Fasika is a half-sister to stakes-winner Absolut Excelencia and is the fourth winner and last foal from from Redoute's Choice mare Jarada, who died in 2015.

The So You Think x Redoute's Choice cross as already delivered Group I winners D'Argento and Inference with Fasika showing the sort of talent that may also deliver Black Type in the future.
