Foxwedge to Stand at Woodside Park

Media Release - Tuesday January 22
Woodside Park Stud have announced that Australia's Champion Second Season Sire Foxwedge will join the stud's stallion roster in 2019.

FoxwedgeProminent Victorian businessman Eddie Hirsch who purchased Foxwedge explained, "Mark Dodemaide and I have been on this horse since August with Inglis negotiating the sale. We thought he would be a perfect fit for Victoria and the VOBIS Scheme with his ability to get running 2 and 3YO's. "

Hirsch added he really is a proven option with 35 stakes-horses and his oldest only being 5YOs. This includes G1 winners Foxplay, Volpe Veloce and Curragh Pretty Polly Stakes winner Urban Fox.

"Part of our attraction to get him was we believe the best is yet to come with big crops of foals and yearlings (300 mares covered in those two seasons)," Hirsch said.

"I am delighted to team up with Woodside Park Stud. Woodside are industry leaders so to have them supporting Foxwedge bodes very well for his future success at stud."

James Price, General Manager Commercial at Woodside Park Stud said: "Foxwedge is a G1 winner who produces impressive stock that captures buyers' attention. Coupled with this, his ability to get stakes horses (8.5%) will ensure his stock commands not only local but international appeal."

Mark Dodemaide commented, "He ticks all the boxes. He is by Champion Sire Fastnet Rock, is very good-looking horse being a $925,000 Inglis Easter yearling and great racehorse running early and fast beating Hay List and Buffering in a G1 at Moonee Valley."

Henry Field, Manager of Foxwedge's former home Newgate Farm, said "He was our first stallion and was really integral in getting Newgate to where it is today. I am sure he will be as good for Woodside and Victoria as he was for us."

Foxwedge will join the best stallion roster ever offered in Victoria consisting of Champion sire Written Tycoon, Tosen Stardom, a dual Gr. 1 winning son of World dominant sire Deep impact plus Invincible Spirit's highest rated two-year-old, Cable Bay and Written Tycoon's fastest son at stud, Rich Enuff.

Foxwedge's 2019 fee will be announced with the roster around Easter but it will be competitive for his launch in Victoria.
