Beauty Generation wins Sha Tin Trophy

Media Release - Monday October 22

Hong Kong Horse of the Year Beauty Generation (NZ) (Road to Rock), who was a $60,000 purchase at the 2014 Select Sale at Karaka, produced another world-class performance in Sunday's HK$4,250,000 Group 2 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy (1600m).

Beauty GenerationWinning the race for the second time, he carried 60 kilograms and led all the way to beat a top-quality field. With regular rider Zac Purton in the saddle, he won by half a length in a slick time of 1:33.07.

"We've got one of the best milers in the world," trainer John Moore said. "This looks like it's going to be his year when he's going to be at his very best – he's really peaking at the moment.

"He couldn't do any more with that weight on his back and the second carrying only 117 (pounds – 53 kilograms)."

Beauty Generation has now had 24 starts for 11 wins, headed by a Group 1 treble in last year's Hong Kong Mile (1600m), Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup (1400m) and Champions Mile (1600m).

His Hong Kong earnings have now gone past HK$44 million – the equivalent of $8.48 million, which is more than 141 times his purchase price at the Select Sale.
