So You Think it was a Good Day

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 24
It was a great day at the office on Saturday for So You Think with a winning double at Randwick courtesy of You Make Me Smile and I Thought So and a new stakes-placed two year-old in Light Up the Room.

You Make Me SmileA lightly raced three year-old from the Jason Coyle stable, You Make Me Smile scored his first metropolitan success when leading all the way in the heavy conditions to win the Benchmark 80 sprint over 1200 metres by a head.

He has now won three of six starts and looks set for a good winter campaign given his ability to get through the wet ground.

Retained to race by his Queensland based breeder Joe Rapisarda, You Make Me Smile is the first winner for Mr Rapisarda's former very smart stakes-winning mare Bianca Jewel, a half-sister to stakes-winner Kiss Me Katy.

Previously trained by David Pfeiffer and now with Peter and Paul Snowden, four year-old gelding I Thought So was fit and ready to fire at his third run back from a spell and cruised clear to win over the open 1200 metre sprint by a length and a half.

I Thought SoStakes-placed five times, I Thought So has won three of 17 starts earning over $270,000 and is well overdue for a stakes victory, so looks worth following to the end of the season.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft, I Thought So is the first winner for stakes-placed Cat's Pyjamas, a full sister to Group II placed Cats Whisker, the dam of Group I winner and $1.9 million earner Catchy.

Leading Queensland trainer Tony Gollan has a big opinion of two year-old So You Think filly Light Up the Room, who won on debut at the Gold Coast earlier this month.

She finished a good third in the Listed BRC Winning Edge Presentation Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

A $120,00 Magic Millions purchase from the Torryburn draft for John Foote Bloodstock/ Gollan Racing, Light Up the Room is the first winner for smart metro winning Redoute's Choice mare Aliberani, a sibling to stakes-placed Imvula and African Rainbow and grand-daughter of Group I AJC Australian Oaks winner Savana City.

It's a big Black Type family and Light Up the Room may add to the family success as her classic season unfolds.

So You Think has had an outstanding season siring the winners of over $6.4 million and seven Australian stakes-winners headed by his Group I stars D'Argento and Sopressa.

The champion so of High Chaparral stands at Coolmore a fee of $44,000.
