A three-time Group-winning mare offered by Newhaven Park Stud in foal to one of the
best stallions in the country changed hands for $1,35 million at the Inglis
Chairman's Sale – Elite Breeding Prospects on Thursday.
Gypsy Diamond was offered by Newhaven Park as part of the Finemore
Thoroughbreds and Planette Thoroughbred Trading unreserved reduction sale and
she was purchased by Yu Long Investments.
Gypsy Diamond is in foal to outstanding stallion I Am Invincible with a
September cover and has a Brazen Beau yearling colt on the ground, which will
be retained by the mare's former owners.
As a racehorse, Gypsy Diamond, a daughter of Not A Single Doubt, won four of
her 27 starts earning more than $750,000.
Her biggest success came in the Group II Moonee Valley Fillies Classic while
also winning the Group III ATC Carbine Club Stakes and JRA Plate. She also
placed in the Group I Queen Of The Turf Stakes.
One lot later, Gypsy Diamond's dam Gypsy Tucker, a Zabeel mare, sold for
$800,000 in foal to Australia's leading sire Snitzel.
Aside from her Group-winning daughter, Gypsy Tucker has produced two other
winners from as many runners.
Gypsy Tucker was also purchased by Yu Long Investments and they were again to
the fore when buying the most expensive race filly/mare in the sale – Pageantry
for $410,000.
Pageantry, a rising four-year-old was a Seymour winner on debut at two and the
daughter of I Am Invincible was Listed-placed in the SAJA Cinderella Stakes in
her next start.
The highest priced weanling sold was a colt from the first crop of Golden
Slipper winner Vancouver out of French Deputy (USA) mare Francophile.
Francophile has produced three winners from five runners including the Group
II-placed daughter of Snitzel, Moreau.
Gippsland Bloodstock paid $130,000 for the brown colt.
