Juvenile Stakes-Winner for Needs Further

The Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale on February 15 received a boost on Sunday with sales graduate Mystic Journey winning the Listed Elwick Stakes for two year-olds and bringing a timely pedigree update for sales bound full sister.

The Adam Trinder trained daughter of young Encosta de Lago stallion Needs Further made it three wins in as many starts when surging clear for a three-quarter length win in the 1100 metre sprint.

The full sister to Mystic Journey will be a highlight at MM Tasmania this weekA modest MM Tasmanian yearling sale purchase for her trainer from the Armidale Stud draft, Mystic Journey has won nearly $100,000 in prizemoney.

She is the best of two winners from White Gold, whose current yearling filly by Needs Further will be offered by Armidale Stud as Lot 2.

The biggest vendor this year at MM Tasmania with 40 entries is the Whishaw family's Armidale Stud, whose promising young sire Needs Further is the most represented sire with 22 entries.

Mystic Journey is the second stakes' winner for Needs Further joining Pateena Arena.

On a quest for the Cox Plate and to take her place as the best in Australia, the Adam Tinder-trained Mystic Journey took her first steps to the spring with a convincing win in Saturday's Group II PB Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.
