International Appeal

Mark Smith - Monday January 8

In keeping with the boast of something for everyone at the Magic Millions, overseas buyers will be delighted to see representation by the hottest young stallion in Japan, Horse Of The Year, Lord Kanaloa, and the perennial champion sire in North America, Tapit.

I'm sure Lord Kanaloa's heroics in consecutive runnings of the Hong Kong Sprint is still fresh in everyone's mind.

The flying son of King Kamehameha will be crowned the leading first season sire in Japan in 2017 and had only the legendary Deep Impact ahead of him as Champion sire of 2yo's.

LOT 479 B or Grey F Lord Kanaloa (JPN) x Adempiamo (JPN) by Agnes Tachyon

With the withdrawal of the colt out of Bariloche (JPN), Arrowfield Stud will consign two fillies the first of which is a grey daughter of the unraced Agnes Tachyon mare Adempiamo who is a three-quarter sister to multiple Listed stakes winner and Group 1 runner-up Peer Gynt (Sunday Silence).

Lot 617 B F Lord Kanaloa (JPN) x Classic Curl (JPN) by Jungle Pocket

The second Lord Kanaloa filly in the Arrowfield draft is a close to Japanese racing royalty as we'll see in Australia.

She is the first foal of the unraced Jungle Pocket mare Classic Curl (JPN) whose dam Cecil Out (Sunday Silence) is a half-sister to Horse Of The Year Air Groove (Tony Bin) the dam of Group 1 winner and Champion second crop sire Rulership (King Kamehameha) and the Champion Admire Groove (Sunday Silence) who is the dam of Champion 3yo colt Duramente winner of the Japanese 2000 Guineas and Derby in 2015.

Lot 706 B or Br F Tapit (USA) x Exclusive Love (USA) by Bernstein

Tapit had his colours lowered in 2017 having been untouchable for the previous three years however he retains his place as the most popular stallion in America.

Gainesway Farm's champion grey also has two fillies on offer.

Newgate Farm consigns a filly out of the young Bernstein mare Exclusive Love (USA).

A classy performer on the east coast, Exclusive Love (USA) was a 5-time winner and was runner-up in the Grade II Lake George Stakes at Saratoga.

From a prolific black-type family Exclusive Love (USA) is out of the Magic Ring mare Magic Of Love who placed in the Group II Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster.

Good mix of American and European blood here.

LOT 831 B F Tapit (USA) x Inventive (USA) by Dixie Union

Sun Stud offers a filly with true international appeal.

Out of the multiple stakes-placed Dixie Union mare Inventive, the bay filly is a half-sister to Bob Baffert's 2016 Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity Stakes winner Klimt (Quality Road), who was purchased as a 2-year-old in training at Ocala for $435,000.

Inventive's granddam Tennis Lady is a Grade III winning sister to Breeders' Cup Classic winner and useful stallion Concern.
