Sebring Stayer Wins Grafton Cup
Tara Madgwick - Thursday, 13 July 2017
A last start winner of the Listed Caloundra Cup, progressive stayer Supply And Demand made it four wins in a row when adding the $164,000 Listed Grafton Cup to his resume with a typically bold front running display on Thursday.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained four year-old led all the way for Josh Parr and hung on to win the 2350 metre staying test by a short neck.

Supply and Demand"It was sheer toughness that got him home today," Parr said.

"He didn't travel from the 700m to the top of the straight, he didn't travel today like he did at the Sunny Coast when he just really towed me into the race and showed a good turn of foot.

"He was out on his feet 500m from home, I felt, and when I went for him he found half a length maximum. He's just an absolute beauty.

"We were on our last legs the last bit. But who bloody cares."

Purchased by G Waterhouse/J Harron/Round Table Racing for $170,000 at the 2014 Inglis Easter Australian Yearling Sale, Supply And Demand (image Steve Hart) advances his record to seven wins, four seconds and two thirds from17 starts with earnings of $517,135.

Bred by part-owner David Henderson, Supply And Demand is a half-brother to stakes-winners Spacecraft and Phenomenons and is the tenth foal of the winning Octagonal mare Demanding whose stakes-winning dam Winged Prayer is a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Tierce.

The win of Supply and Demand has given Sebring progeny earnings this season in excess of $10million.

The flagship sire for Widden Stud, Sebring stands this spring at a fee of $66,000.
