Michael Pitman's $800 gavelhouse purchase Fade To Grey rewarded connections handsomely with an impressive win in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series 1200m at Ashburton on Friday.

Fade to GreyYaldhurst-based Pitman, who trains in partnership with son Matthew and is part of the ownership group, has guided the mare to winnings of $36,125 since her purchase just over a month ago in May thanks to the $15,625 winning purse and $20,000 in NZB Insurance Pearl Series bonus.

The young Guillotine mare was sold on account of her owners as a winner in work while being out of the four-time winning PINS mare Tiverton and related to black type winners PRINCE OF PRAISE, RUN LIKE AL, ACROPOLIS et al. her potential to head to the breeding barn at the end of her racing career also boosted her appeal.
