Choisir Filly Spoils the Party
Tara Madgwick - Friday, 7 July 2017
Coolmore shuttler Declaration of War (USA) was on the cusp of siring his first stakes-winner in Ireland overnight with his daughter Actress a hot favourite to win the Listed Tipperary Stakes, but speedy Choisir filly Sirici had other ideas.

The Fozzy Stack trained Sirici bounded out of the gates and led throughout to win the five furlong scamper by a neck over Actress.

"Sirici has a very high cruising speed and we decided to go back to basics today and ride her as we had at Dundalk earlier on. She's as tough as nails," said her trainer.

ChoisirSirici has won three of six starts and is the first winner for her dam Mironica, a minor winner by Excellent Art from the family of stakes-winner Dazed and Amazed.

She is the 83rd stakes-winner for outstanding sire Choisir, who has made his mark in both hemispheres.

28 of his stakes-winners have been conceived in the Northern Hemisphere including his Group I winners Obviously, Olympic Glory and The Last Lion, the latter pair standing in the Hunter Valley this spring for Arrowfield Stud and Darley.

Choisir stands at Coolmore this spring at a fee of $29,700 alongside his champion son Starspangledbanner at a fee of $16,500.
