Major Contender A Boost for Cornerstone's Sir Prancealot
Breednet - Monday, 3 July 2017
The running of the Winter Cup at Rosehill on Saturday saw a very smart horse in Gallic Chieftain burst into some major race calculations going forward.

Sir PrancealotTo many Australian breeders his sire Tamayuz is an unknown quantity, however over in Europe he is churning out the winners and stakes winners on a regular basis.

Just this year Tamayuz sired the winner of the Group 1 FR Poule d'Eassai des Pouliches (I,000 Guineas) to go with his other Group 1 winner G Force.

While he is still a relatively young sire on the scenes, Gallic Chieftain's win in the Listed Winter Cup makes it 15 stakes winners to date with 20% of those being out of Danehill line mares… So, what does this have to do with Australian breeders?

Well unfortunately Tamayuz does not shuttle to Australia, however his son Sir Prancealot is shuttling to Cornerstone Stud this year.

The Group 2 winning son of Tamayuz was recently crowned champion first season sire in both Europe and the U.K. by both prizemoney and winners.

In fact, his sophomore season isn't going too differently, again he is sitting at the top of the table by winners in Europe and the U.K.

This is no mean feat as his main rivals are the likes of Frankel, Helmet, Foxwedge, So You Think, Nathaniel, Excelerbration and The Factor.

The most exciting thing about Sir Prancealot is that he, like his father, has an affinity with Danehill line mares.

Being a Group 2 winning juvenile himself, Sir Prancealot is a perfect 2yo speed outcross for the abundance of Danehill line mares found in Australia.

Only Exceed And Excel, Kodiac and Dark Angel matched it with Sir Prancealot in the amount of 2yo winners he produced in Europe last year.

In total Sir Prancealot has 6 stakes horses in his first crop, with his 2 best performed stakes winners both out Danehill line mares.

With on 15 starters bred on this cross so far you must think there will be more stakes winners to come.

It will be interesting to see how this proven outcross for Danehill works out in Australia.

Sir Prancealot is advertised at a fee of $16,500 Inc.GST.
