Pierro
was not the only first season sire to post a winner on Wednesday with Cox Plate
winner Ocean Park producing Ocean Jewel to win at Belmont, while Raheen Stud's
quiet achiever Golden Archer sired Diomedes to win at Doomben.
Making her debut for the Simon Miller stable, two year-old filly Ocean Jewel
was sent out favourite and delivered the goods when cruising clear an easy
length and a half winner of the 1200 metre contest.
An $80,000 Inglis Weanling purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Newgate Farm
draft, Ocean Jewel comes with a big pedigree.
She is from Group III placed Markisa, a half-sister to Group I winner Shower of
Roses from Group I winner Marquise, a daughter of the legendary Eight Carat

Ocean Jewel is the second winner for Ocean Park, who stands in New Zealand at
Waikato Stud.
Golden Archer sired his ninth winner when Diomedes scored a front running
three-quarter length win at her second start over 1350 metres for the Bryan and
Daniel Guy stable.
Bryan Guy purchased the youngster for $40,000 from the Raheen Stud draft at the
Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

from stakes-winner Baldeen.
